Welcome!

My name is INERTIA DEWITT and I am so honored that you are visiting my site. Contrary to popular belief, "inertia" is the tendency of motion, and the truth is - everything is in motion

I believe that THE BODY WAS MADE TO MOVE and I want to help you find your vitality through the healing movement of yoga, somatic therapy, and the expressive arts.

About Me

ABOUT ME

In 2009 I graduated from Sacramento State University with a B.A. in Theater Arts, concentration in Dance. Along with various forms of dance, I studied anatomy & kinesiology and was introduced to a range of somatic practices. Upon graduation I began a 200-hour teacher-training program at Asha Yoga in Sacramento; I attribute the foundation of my yoga knowledge to this remarkable training.

In 2010 I began a 3-year masters program at Arizona State University. While studying dance and somatic practices, I took interest in researching the crossover between art, psychology, and spirituality. I completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, in addition to a yin yoga training with Paul Grilley.

After a brief year in Las Vegas working in the corporate world I moved to Los Angeles, returned to teaching yoga, making art, and began working in the mental health field. This led to completing an M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in March 2018. I specialize in depth & somatic psychotherapy and work under supervision as an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Sacramento. Please refer to my Therapy page for more information regarding my clinical approach and availability.

My yoga teaching style is aimed toward helping you establish a foundation of somatic (body-mind-spirit) awareness and gain self-knowledge through a physical practice. I draw from my history of dance, anatomy/kinesiology, and yoga training to create customized practices for my students. I trust in the ancient wisdom and inherently therapeutic nature of yoga to aide in your healing journey.

Outside of yoga and therapy, I perform and teach under the stage name American Wonder Woman. This work is rooted in activism and empowerment. Keep a look out for performance dates under special events. For inquiries or booking me as an artist or guest teacher, please contact me at info@americanwonderwoman.com
